A total of 60 players called, raised and folded
there way to the final table, which consisted of
some of top-scorers on the NJFP leader-board,
including the current point leader, Grif
“The Mortgage Doctor” Auld.
Grif began the tournament with the biggest chip
stack, and came away with a very respectable, 10th
place finish.
Terry, Jon and Rob were the
Dealers for the event. The Final Table was dealt by
Rob Grosch, NJFP Organizer of the Bar-Tab Tourney.
Rob, a/k/a, Michael Flatley; The Lord of the River,
proved to be just that, by knocking out six of the
ten finalists, on The River!
Adrian Pocovniu, 78th in overall
points, and Chris Dotson (15th), finished 9th and
8th respectively. Robert Lane, who began playing
with NJFP this season, captured 7th, and Hung Pham,
“The Mad Caller” took 6th. Robert and Hung are
currently in the Top-20. Sixth through Tenth
received $10.00 Gift-Certificates to Terminal 2, in
addition to bragging rights!
And then there were five… Ren
Buonomo (26th), the NJFP veteran of the group, was
KO’d 5th, while Cynthia “Player Down” Wilkes (27th)
went out in 4th place. They both were awarded
$25.00 Gift Certificates.
Three, Two, One… The three
remaining players are all in the Top-15 on the
leader-board, and came with their game-faces,
headsets and sunglasses on!
Hashham Khawaja (14th), better
known as “Hash”, and one of the founding members of
“The Seven-up Club”, finished 3rd and received a
$50.00 NJFP Sponsored Satellite seat.
Andrew “Rutgers” Scala, currently
7th, began the day, as a Wild Card player, and moved
on to compete with the rest of the Bar-Tab Tourney
qualifiers with the minimum bring-in, went heads-up
against Dorothy “The Flag” McGuinness, who is hailed
as the “Most Improved Player” in the League, is 2nd
in overall points, and somehow found the time to
bake cookies and cupcakes which she shared with all
of the players at game’s end.
The turning point of the game came
when Andrew slow-played his pocket-rockets, which
unfortunately exploded in his hand, when they were
cracked, on the flop, by Dorothy’s 10-6 off-suit,
giving her 2 pair. Andrew battled his way back, but
couldn’t overcome the chip-lead Andrew had afforded
her, after the Pocket-Rockets backfired.
10-4, over and out, gave Dorothy
the win and a $150.00 Sponsored Satellite Seat.
Andrew took home a $100.00 Sponsorship!
